NEW SUBWAY GATES ARE HERE 👀 MTA's new fare gates feature tall glass paddle doors that open after tapping OMNY or a card and close quickly. They have a loud alarm on evasion attempts, use Al sensors for accessibility (wheelchairs, strollers, luggage), and are designed to be harder to jump or duck under. These are currently in pilot testing at some stations The MTA's goal is to reach 150 stations by 2029 to reduce fare evasion.
