the Pacific madrone, also called, arbutus, madrone, madroña, Oregon madrone, or California madrone, is one of my all-time favorite trees. it’s so incredibly recognizable, especially in its young age, that if they exist near you, you should be able to easily spot it! another fun thing about these guys is how sensitive, yet resilient they are. they THRIVE in the worst, albeit very specific conditions. rocky soil, dry, but watered... sunny and hilly! water them too much and they will not be happy!
