he Well Below the Valley is an Irish folk song which is a version of a ballad called “The Maid and The Palmer” A version was recorded by the group Planxty in 1973, and according to them: “The Well Below the Valley had never been collected from oral tradition in Britain or Ireland until Tom Munnelly heard John Reilly of Boyle, Co.
