Today is Aberri Eguna (Basque Homeland Day), celebrated every Easter Sunday. It’s a day that highlights Basque identity, culture, & language; bringing people together across the Basque Country & beyond.

During Real Sociedad’s title celebrations, the song “Txoria Txori” is being sung. Basque Country and Palestine flags can also be seen in the hands of supporters.“Txoria Txori” emerged during the repressive period of Francisco Franco’s dictatorship, when the Basque language and culture were banned. For that reason, it became one of the strongest symbols of Basque resistance, memory, and identity.
