As history goes...Clare Torry was the original singer on "Great Gig In The Sky" performed by Pink Floyd as part of the Dark Side Of The Moon LP (1973). Pink Floyd was finishing up their Dark Side Of The Moon album at Abbey Roads Studios when they realized they needed a female to fill 'Great Gig In The Sky" with 'wordless vocals' (Wikipedia). Clare happened to be there. To add, Alan Parsons was engineering the session and also wound up using Clare for his release "Don't Hold Back", on his Eve LP.
