Born in 1909, on the 10th of May, Maybelle Carter is among American music’s most important and beloved figures. She is commonly referred to in country music circles as “Mother Maybelle” because of a lifetime of music-making that is ever-cherished and anchored in love. She created the "Carter Scratch" style of playing the guitar. On her 19th birthday, Maybelle, her cousin, Sara, and Sara's husband, A.P. Carter, recorded what is probably the Carter Family's most famous song, "Wildwood Flower". She
