Strong Santa Ana winds are fueling multiple wildfires across Southern California, forcing thousands of residents to flee from their homes.

Across the country, people are looking to donate to the victims of the unprecedented fires, and Connecticut residents are no exception. Below are some tips to help safely donate to the Southern California wildfire relief efforts courtesy of the Better Business Bureau: Look for specific fire relief activities in appeals: Do not explain what activities your support will assist.

The Palisades Fire – the largest blaze – has killed at least five people. The Eaton Fire, above Altadena in northern Los Angeles County, has killed at least six people and burned more than 21 square miles, leaving apocalyptic scenes of destruction.
