Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov when asked to comment on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's remarks about acquiring Greenland said on Tuesday that people of Greenland should be listened to first.

The prime minister said that while Greenlanders do not want to become Americans, “the reality is we are going to work with the U.S. — yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

President-elect Trump’s allies in Congress proposed a new bill dubbed ‘Make Greenland Great Again.' It's meant to expedite a negotiation process with Denmark, which protects Greenland’s autonomy, given Trump's repeated desire to buy the Arctic territory.
