Sure, Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD) was reporting its quarterly results, but the world's second-largest economy loomed large after the chipmaker’s earnings fell short of expectations and raised concerns about the timing of a restart of shipments to China.

The AI data-center market has been moving toward “full stack” rack-scale solutions led by Nvidia. In March, AMD closed its acquisition of ZT Systems, giving the company more expertise to design rack-scale AI servers incorporating chips, networking, and software in a larger end-to-end system offering in the future.

AMD (AMD) stock dropped more than 6% in early trading Tuesday, after posting disappointing Data Center revenue as part of its second quarter results Wednesday. The company missed on adjusted earnings per share (EPS) but beat analysts' expectations on overall revenue.
