Former UConn Huskies women's basketball star Kaitlyn Chen is going back where she started. The Golden State Valkyries announced the signing of Chen on Sunday, putting her back on the roster of the WNBA's newest team after she spent the preseason in San Francisco.
Chen will be immediately available, and will face her UConn teammate Paige Bueckers as Golden State takes on Dallas on Tuesday.
Tuesday's matchup in Dallas will feature Paige Bueckers, the top pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, facing off against former UConn teammate Kaitlyn Chen. The Valkyries drafted Chen during the third round of this year's draft and was waived by the team before she re-signed over the weekend.
The Golden State Valkyries entered the season without any of their first-round draft picks on the roster. That was a mistake they recently remedied.
Kaitlyn Chen and Chloe Bibby played in the preseason games against the Los Angeles Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury.
UConn head coach Geno Auriemma expresses excitement to see Kaitlyn Chen back with Valkyries during team's strong start
