The FTC has sued Key Investment Group for allegedly circumventing Ticketmaster controls to purchase and resell over 2,000 tickets for Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' at massive profits.

Key Investment Group said the FTC is misapplying the Better Online Ticket Sales Act, a 2016 law which it said was meant to target malicious software, not legitimate resale businesses. Key Investment Group sued the FTC in July to try to prevent the agency from using the law against it, saying it uses human employees — not bots — to buy tickets.

The Federal Trade Commission said Monday it has filed a lawsuit against Maryland-based ticket broker Key Investment Group and its affiliated companies and individuals for using "unlawful tactics" to bypass Ticketmaster's security measures and exceed ticket purchasing limits for many popular events,
