Amazon will lay off approximately 400 workers in Washington state as part of its decision to close all Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh stores across the country, according to a notice filed with the state Employment Security Department on Wednesday.
The latest round of layoffs came after the company cut 14,000 white-collar workers in October.
Amazon said Wednesday it will cut approximately 16,000 roles across the company as part of an organizational overhaul aimed at reducing bureaucracy and cutting management layers, as the company continues to invest heavily in areas such as artificial intelligence.
