The system is the first of several waves of winter weather headed our way. Friday looks to bring a system which could generate up to four inches of snow in the lowlands of the state and higher amounts in the mountains.
After a weekend of snow in the Midwest, the winter weather is focused farther south on Monday, with snow hitting Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina.

A winter weather advisory was issued for southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia on Thursday, December 4, with forecasted snowfall amounts of two to four inches expected over night, the National Weather Service said.
