Today, for the first time in Tampa history, the revelry on the Hillsborough River will honor a champion in women's sports. Fresh off Sunday's USL Super League victory, the Tampa Bay Sun will take to the seas to celebrate.

The 15,000-seat stadium would be home to the professional women’s soccer team and anchor a new urban district including the United Soccer League’s headquarters in Ybor Harbor.

The Sun, along with Tampa business mogul Darryl Shaw, released a plan on Tuesday to build a stadium for the women’s professional soccer team on Ybor’s waterfront. The 15,000-seat stadium would be located within Ybor Harbor, a forthcoming 33-acre mixed-use development headed up by Shaw. It would also include a boutique hotel.
