Prior to this game, Team USA had already advanced to the championship on Thursday, where they will face Canada in a rematch of Saturday's game that began with three fights in the opening nine seconds.

Despite not having a chance to reach the championship, Sweden played the role of spoiler and came away with a 2-1 win over the United States in Monday's final round-robin game in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.

The players showed they care despite the meaningless stakes and Sweden earned its first victory of the tournament.
