“Superman” dominated the domestic box office for a second-straight weekend, bringing in an estimated $57 million—turning the film into a much-needed hit for the stagnating DC Universe brand and Warner Bros.

“Superman” soared to the top spot on Friday, its second in theaters, raking in $16.6 million, according to The Numbers. By Saturday, it had already flown past the $200 million mark at the North American box office and is on track to become the highest earning superhero hit of the year.

Elsewhere, new offerings 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Smurfs' are no match for the Man of Steel and are both eyeing a domestic opening in the $12 million range.

While Superman may be the most prominent hero in the DCU thus far, the hero's self-titled movie introduces plenty of his peers, from his cousin Kara to the members of Maxwell Lord's Justice Gang. While all of these characters have their individual strengths, only one can hold the honor of being the DCU's strongest superhero.
