The community held a candlelight vigil for Detective Didarul Islam outside the 47th precinct Friday, as the community continues to keep his memory alive following Monday’s mass shooting.

Tamura’s past includes two involuntary psychiatric holds and a citation for misdemeanor trespassing by Las Vegas police in 2023. None of those encounters legally barred him from purchasing a firearm.
