Jaxson Dart took another step Saturday night toward grabbing the Giants’ starting quarterback job if Russell Wilson falters early this regular season.

Wilson showed off his patented moon ball with his first pass Saturday. A deep bomb to Beaux Collins in stride for an 80-yard pass with Collins tackled at the Jets’ 1-yard line. Two plays later, Devin Singletary scored on a 1-yard rush to complete a 93-yard drive.
While DeVito lingered in Giants training camp as the seldom-used No. 4 quarterback during joint practices, the Jets finished the two days with two just arms available because of injuries to Tyrod Taylor (knee scope) and rookie Brady Cook (ankle) — and then they held an uninspiring free-agent tryout for Nathan Peterman and C.J. Beathard.

Dart did much of his damage in the third quarter, including a crisp touchdown throw over the seam to tight end Greg Dulcich. The Giants blew the Jets out 31-12, improving to 2-0 in the preseason and earning their first win in the "Snoopy Bowl" at MetLife Stadium since 2019.
It would have been less obvious who the Jets plan to be on offense if Tanner Engstrand just shared snapshots from his playbook on the video board.
