Firefighters raced over the weekend to contain the two largest fires still raging in the Los Angeles area. Calmer winds allowed them to make progress, but another round of strong winds is expected to hit the area on Monday and Tuesday.

At least 24 people are believed to be dead and many more injured as several fires broke out across Southern California amid historically dry and windy conditions.

Firefighters have also made gains in the north side of the fire, slowing it’s progress there, and over the weekend have been able to significantly slow its progress on the eastern side.
