California State University Channel Islands is calling for the immediate release of one of their professors who was detained during a protest on Thursday. The demonstration sprung up while federal officials conducted a raid at a Glass House Farms marijuana grow facility in Camarillo,

The California Faculty Association, an “anti-racism, social justice union” that has 29,000 members, claimed on Instagram Saturday that “four masked agents” put CSU Channel Islands professor Jonathan Caravello into an unmarked vehicle “without identifying themselves” or giving a reason for the arrest.

Richard Yao, the president of California State University, Channel Islands, since 2021, will step down on Aug. 1, following a turbulent period of enrollment decline, budget cuts and staff reductions at the university.

Starting August 4th, Susan A. Andrzejewski will take over as California State University Channel Islands' new Interim President.
