Rochester found itself under a federal microscope after police were publicly reprimanded for helping immigration agents during a traffic stop.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Wednesday that her office has filed an amicus brief in support of the City of Rochester’s defense against a lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice claiming the city’s sanctuary laws are unconstitutional.

The lawsuit is the latest twist in the complex relationship between Mayor Eric Adams and the Justice Department.
