Michigan State Police trooper shot an armed man in the leg in Macomb County during an incident following a road rage event.

Michigan State Police says one person was shot by a trooper after pulling out a gun on Sunday in Bruce Township, Michigan.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police said a trooper shot a Chesterfield man armed with a long gun Sunday afternoon. The shooting happened near Van Dyke and 35 Mile in Bruce Township on March 16, 2025, at around 4 p.m.

An assault suspect was shot by a state trooper following a chase in Macomb County. Michigan State Police in Detroit say a trooper from the Metro North post was on patrol at 4 p.m. on March 16 when he heard a report to be on the lookout for the driver of a Jeep SUV involved in an alleged felonious assault in Shelby Township.

A 31-year-old from Chesterfield Township exited his vehicle police were on lookout for with a long gun when approached by an MSP trooper, police say.
