It’s time for a midseason review of the Portland Trail Blazers 2024-25 season. The Oregonian/OregonLive offered five must to make the season successful even if the Blazers (14-28) don’t reach the postseason, which they almost certainly will not. It’s now time to review the progress made to this point in the season.

The Portland Trail Blazers appeared set to start their three-game trip by blowing out the Miami Heat Tuesday night at the Kaseya Center. Instead, they built a 27-point lead and then watched the Heat storm back to within seven before ultimately holding on to win 116-107.

NEW YORK — Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and 16 rebounds, Jalen Brunson scored eight points down the stretch and finished with 17 as the New York Knicks beat the Brooklyn Nets 99-95 on Tuesday night. OG Anunoby scored 20 points and Precious Achiuwa had 11 points off the bench as the Knicks won their second straight game.

Simons and Ayton lead the way, with Simons dropping 24 on 6-12 three-point shooting, adding four boards, and three assists. Ayton posted a double-double putting up 22 points, and pulling down 15 rebounds. Avdija also added a double-double, scoring 16 with 10 rebounds.

Jerami Grant finished with 18 points and Deni Avdija added 16 for the Blazers, who lost by 60 the last time they played in Miami.

Joe Cronin’s Trail Blazers embarrassed the Heat at Kaseya Center. A late spurt in the fourth quarter made sure the box score wasn’t as ugly as it could’ve been, but for most stretches, the hosts looked like the team that came in 14 games below .
