NBA mock trade: Pistons acquire Michael Porter Jr. in package deal involving two star veterans
Michael Porter Jr. is having a career season with the Brooklyn Nets. In this mock trade, he heads to the Pistons, boosting their status as contenders.
According to Zach Bachar of Bleacher Report, the Pistons are among the teams interested in Porter. “According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls are all potential landing spots for Porter on the trade market.”
ESPN's Zach Kram took a look at the Pistons in a new article on Tuesday, and he suggested they target a trade for Michael Porter Jr. MPJ is in his first season with the Brooklyn Nets after a trade from the Denver Nuggets, and he has continued to prove he's a legitimate high-level scorer in the NBA.
Porter is in the middle of an All-Star-level season, averaging 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists on incredible 49-40-84 shooting splits. His stats aren't necessarily inflated despite the Nets' 11-26 record, because he's scoring with such efficiency and consistency.
Cade Cunningham is having an MVP season for the East-leading Detroit Pistons. However, the Pistons need a clear No. 2 option, despite the emergence of Jalen Duren.
