We may still be months away from election season, but one North Dakota city is already gearing up for what should be a busy summer of voting. Thursday marks the first day that candidates for the upcoming mayoral and City Council elections in Minot can circulate petitions to be on the ballot.

The most-watched race in the region will be for Montana’s Senate seat as Senator Steve Daines’ seat is up. Montana also has two house seats up for election, currently held by Troy Downing and Ryan Zinke.

Elected to a two-year term as state president is Kathy Tweeten of Bismarck. Tweeten has been active with the Bismarck-Mandan chapter and previously served on the state board of directors.
