“One of Them Days” was the No. 1 movie at the North American box office on a slow Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, according to studio estimates compiled by Comscore. The R-rated movie from Sony ( NYSE: SONY) grossed $11.6 million from 2,675 theaters.
Dr, King’s daughter and fellow minister Bernice King slammed Sexyy Red for the AI-generated image (viewable here ), which depicted her and the activist holding hands while sensually staring into each other’s eyes.
Per Deadline, Mufasa: The Lion King is projected to earn $11.5 million through Sunday and $15.5 million through the four-day MLK holiday weekend. If the estimate holds it will boost Mufasa’s running domestic tally to $209.7 million since its Dec. 20, 2024, opening.
