The New England Patriots spent more than $200 million in free agency to shore up their defense on Monday, reportedly adding defensive tackle Milton Williams, cornerback Carlton Davis and linebacker Robert Spillane.
The 28-year-old spent time with new Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams in Detroit last season, his first and only with the Lions. Over 13 games, Davis recorded two interceptions, 11 pass breakups and 56 tackles. Davis is a seven-year veteran who has started all but one of his 89 career regular-season games.
The New England Patriots made one of the biggest splashes on Day 1 of NFL free agency, swooping in ahead of the Carolina Panthers to agree to terms on a deal with star defensive tackle Milton Williams.
Carlton Davis, Robert Spillane, Harold Landry, and Mack Hollins could all be excellent signings for the Patriots. But the real caper was nabbing Super Bowl champion defensive tackle Milton Williams for a whopping four-year, $104 million contract.
