President Donald Trump blasted Republican senators who voted in favor of a War Powers Resolution on Thursday.

The largely symbolic vote follows Collins' opposition in November to a resolution that would have required the president to seek congressional authorization to use military force in Venezuela. The Republican has expressed support for the U.

Collins was one of five Republicans to vote for a bipartisan measure to halt further American military action in Venezuela without congressional approval.

The war powers resolution will need another vote in the Senate before it becomes official. Still, the five defectors' rebellion served as a sharp rebuke.

While some Republicans voted against Trump on Obamacare subsidies and a War Powers Resolution, his power over the party remains strong.

He said the five Republicans who voted to advance a bill to restrict the American military’s presence in Venezuela should never be elected again.
