Rory McIlroy whiffed on a shot at the Australian Open on the 14th hole at Royal Melbourne on Friday, leading to a bogey on the par 5. McIlroy missed the fairway to the right off the tee and ended up under a tea tree. The reigning Masters champ then whiffed on his next shot as his club got stuck in a branch but he recovered to make a 6.

Rory McIlroy literally left an impression on a fan during the second round of the DP World Tour's Australian Open at Royal Melbourne Golf Club on Friday.

That legacy was immortalized over the past 11 months by a career-defining year that McIlroy himself called his best yet. With a green jacket win in April, he became just the sixth golfer in history to complete the career Grand Slam, having already triumphed at a U.S. Open, two PGA Championships and the 2014 Open Championship.

McIlroy and Scheffler, and their teams, will compete in a one-of-a-kind competition on Dec. 17 at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter.

The Spaniard, who won 22 Grand Slam titles and a record 14 French Open crowns, received a tribute ceremony at this season’s Roland Garros, at which his longtime rivals Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were in attendance.
