After the PGA Championship came to a close last weekend, CBS golf reporter Amanda Balionis felt the need to respond to critics who thought she slighted Rory McIlroy by thanking Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm for doing post-round interviews when they didn't have to.

Scheffler birdied his first two holes before a trio of pars. He then birdied Nos. 6 and 9 to make the turn in 31. He birdied the 10th before making a 15-footer for eagle on the 11th. Scheffler extended his cuts made streak to 55 on Friday in his home state of Texas. Xander Schauffele holds the active cuts made streak on the PGA Tour at 64.

Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 and winner of last week’s PGA Championship, surged back into contention with a Saturday 64. He’s at 7 under and playing in Sunday’s penultimate group. He’ll need more of the same – and fewer bogeys – to run down the leaders.
