Homeland Security Secretary Noem blamed California Gov. Newsom for the need to deploy the National Guard to Los Angeles protests.
President Trump ordered deployment of 2,000 guard members over the objections of Gov. Gavin Newsom, who said Trump wanted to create a "spectacle."
"Great job by the National Guard in Los Angeles after two days of violence, clashes and unrest," Trump posted at 11:41 p.m. Saturday, before troops had arrived.
The Trump administration said it would send 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles after a second day in which protesters confronted immigration agents during raids of local businesses.
The Oklahoma National Guard is not planning on participating in the nation’s largest military parade. The June 14 parade will feature tanks rolling through the U.S. capital’s streets, thousands of soldiers marching and military fly overs to celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday.
