Disney has sent ByteDance a cease and desist letter to ByteDance over their new Seedance 2.0 AI generative video tool.

ByteDance is facing scrutiny over Seedance 2.0, an AI video tool creating Hollywood star deepfakes and sparking copyright concerns.

The studio alleged that ByteDance’s AI video generator, Seedance 2.0, infringes its intellectual property by creating content using copyrighted characters.

ByteDance released Seedance 2.0 less than a week ago and enraged artists everywhere with a viral clip AI-generated clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting. Unsurprisingly, the AI video-making tool has reportedly already received multiple cease-and-desist letters around copyright infringement.

ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has come under legal fire for allegedly allowing users of its platform to create videos featuring copyrighted characters.

The US entertainment accuses ByteDance of stealing its intellectual property by training its new AI tool, Seedance, on Disney characters and images of real-life actors. ByteDance says it will address Disney’s concerns.

Disney and Paramount allege that Seedance 2.0 is distributing and reproducing their intellectual property.
