A polar vortex dipping down from Siberia is bringing a cold front with frigid temperatures to millions Americans. See maps of the arctic blast.

An Arctic blast that began in the northern plains on Saturday spread bitter cold from the Rockies through the East Coast and as far south as Florida by Tuesday morning. A blizzard warning was in effect for southern Louisiana, the furthest south such a warning has ever been posted.

An Arctic blast arrived in central Ohio on Monday, bringing with it the coldest air that central Ohio has felt in more than two years. The 10 Weather Impact Team has issued 10TV Weather Impact Alert Days through Wednesday morning due to the extreme cold.

The freezing temperatures will move eastward, reaching locations like Philadelphia, where daytime highs will only reach the upper teens. The polar vortex is a gigantic circular upper-air weather pattern in the Arctic that envelops the North Pole.

In Indiana, around zero degrees was likely, the map showed, with temperatures of around three degrees possible in Northern Maine. Northern Georgia would see temperatures around 16, and in Colorado, the map showed that some areas would see -9.
