University president Lawrence Schovanec was hoping to be in person for a Texas Tech football game and one other on Saturday, but no such luck.

“Red Raider Nation, it’s official — we have declared Saturday night’s game in Houston our eighth home game this season,” Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt posted X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday night. “Houston is West Texas.”
