NEW YORK -- New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin sustained what appears to be a lower-body injury and needed help off the ice with seven minutes remaining in the first period in their game against the Utah Mammoth at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
The Rangers have more wins in outdoor games all time than the 2025-26 team has wins at Madison Square Garden. After showing the Panthers the Winter Classic belongs to the North, however, the Blueshirts are hoping it was the kind of win that starts a new chapter of the campaign. That needs to begin Monday night at home against the Mammoth.
Despite the solid win Friday, the Rangers lineup features two changes against the Mammoth. Urho Vaakanainen draws in to replace Matthew Robertson on the third defense pair, and Anton Blidh swaps in on the fourth line, with Brett Berard the healthy forward scratch Monday.
There are always arenas that NHL players absolutely want to and love playing in, besides obviously their home rink. When players are from certain NHL cities, like Clayton Keller and St.
Shesterkin left the game with 7:00 left in the first period and the score 0-0, after he appeared to click skates with Utah forward J.J. Peterka, who was driving the net and appeared to turn away at the last second.
