The Australian city hosted the first race of the year for most of the last three decades before the Covid-19 pandemic. Now it’s back.

The new Formula One season begins Sunday with the Australian Grand Prix, opening a campaign that features more new faces on the grid than in recent memory and one familiar face driving under a new banner in Lewis Hamilton.

Expect to see a slew of new faces on the Formula 1 grid for the 2025 season. It's set to be a dynamic year as six rookies embark on their first full F1 season while veterans fight for their spot and the championship.

Hamilton’s move to the team, a story that began in February last year when he announced he would be leaving Mercedes at the end of 2024, has dominated the buildup to the new season. Australia will host the first race, on March 16, for the first time since 2019.
