The Philadelphia Eagles, mired in a three-game losing streak, got a much-needed blowout victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, 31-0, to move to 9-5.
There's trouble afoot in the City of Brotherly Love, as the Philadelphia Eagles (8-5) have lost three straight games. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has received heavy criticism for his recent play. A date with the dysfunctional Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) in Week 15 could be just what the doctor ordered for Philadelphia.
The Eagles are starting off on the right foot today. They went 67 yards in 13 plays on their first drive to take an early 7-0 lead on the Raiders. Tight end Dallas Goedert scored on a 4-yard pass from Jalen Hurts with 7:09 gone in the first quarter.
With Geno Smith out with a shoulder injury, Raiders backup quarterback and former Eagles QB Kenny Pickett struggled in his Philadelphia homecoming, as Las Vegas notched just 75 total offensive yards.
Jalen Hurts smacked A.J. Brown helmet-to-helmet after a touchdown pass for a celebration that seemed to release the pent-up tension that came tethered to a losing streak. Nick Sirianni tossed an arm around Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles coach yelled some happy words at the QB who weathered recent criticism as the season started to bend toward a collapse.
It came in the form of Kenny Pickett and the wretched Raiders. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles knew exactly what to do with it. They got well immediately, ending their three-game losing streak with a 31-0 beating of perhaps the worst team in football.
2Q – 1:57 [Eagles 17 – Raiders 0]: Saquon Barkley ran the ball two yards into the endzone to extend the Eagles lead heading into halftime. 2Q – 12:49 [Eagles 10 – Raiders 0]: The Eagles offense stalled a bit in the red zone, and was forced to settle for a 27-yard field goal by Jake Elliott.
