A new wildfire has broken out in Ventura County as the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire have been burning for one week in Los Angeles County.

Southern California is braced for "extremely critical fire conditions" caused by a new period of Santa Ana winds today through Wednesday across parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as the battle to contain rampant blazes goes on.

Four large fires are currently burning in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection: the Palisades Fire, which has burned 23,713 acres and is 17% contained;

Although the National Weather Service downgraded the severity of its forecast on Tuesday, forecasters expect higher wind gusts on Wednesday that could lead to “explosive fire growth.”

On Tuesday at 1:16 p.m. the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued a red flag warning in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m.
