The White House fired the inspector general for the U.S. Agency for International Development on Tuesday, a U.S. official said. It comes a day after the watchdog's office warned that the Trump administration’s dismantling of USAID had made it all but impossible to monitor $8.

USAID Inspector General Paul Martin was told Tuesday he was immediately terminated from his position, CNN reported, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter. Martin published a report Monday saying the Trump administration’s targeting of USAID’s staff and foreign assistance resources made it harder to respond to allegations of misused humanitarian assistance and hindered USAID’s ability to vet aid recipients for potential terrorist ties.
