Two NASA astronauts, stranded at the International Space Station since June, could return to Earth weeks earlier than originally planned after SpaceX agreed to swap capsules for its upcoming flights.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, whose Boeing flight test has turned into an eight-month stay on the International Space Station, will get home a little sooner.

Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, the two Starliner astronauts who have had a prolonged aboard the ISS, are expected to return home in early March, according to NASA.

A photographer on Earth has captured an incredible telescope image of NASA astronaut Suni Williams outside of the International Space Station, as it passed by roughly 250 miles overhead.

NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore were able to remove a stuck radio communications unit on a record-setting spacewalk on Thursday (Jan. 30).

The record-breaking spacewalk set a new women's record for total spacewalking time and saw the astronauts finally remove faulty radio communications hardware, among other tasks.

Williams and Wilmore both arrived at the ISS last June, aboard the first crewed test flight of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. The astronauts were only slated for a 10-day mission, but issues with Starliner during docking led to multiple delays in their return, with NASA ultimately deciding to have Starliner make the journey back to Earth uncrewed.

NASA and SpaceX have expedited plans to bring astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore back from the ISS. Initially delayed due to Boeing’s Starliner issues, they are set to return after Crew-10’s launch on March 12.
