The New York Giants got worse on Monday by allowing executive Ryan Cowden out of his contract to join the New England Patriots.

Ryan Cowden, the executive advisor to general manager Joe Schoen for the past two years, is leaving, with the expectation he will join the front office in New England, reuniting with new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Cowden and Vrabel worked together with the Titans.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that New York Giants senior advisor Ryan Cowden had accepted a job with the New England Patriots as the “de facto No. 2” behind executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.
