BOSTON — Rafael Devers is entering his eighth full season in the majors and the second year of the 10-year, $313.5 million extension he signed with the Red Sox two years ago. As he steps into what should be the prime of his career, the Red Sox are also hoping he’ll take on a more vocal leadership role.

The next step for Rafael Devers? Stepping out of his comfort zone and being more vocal, according to manager Alex Cora.
