The No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats suffered a pretty brutal upset on Tuesday night, losing 83–66 to No. 17 Michigan State at the Champions Classic. The matchup was a chance for the Wildcats to show off their strength on a national stage, but they fell short.

Michigan State's breakout 3-point-shooting performance was so surprising to Tom Izzo that the Hall of Fame coach wondered aloud if the Spartans made more while beating Kentucky than in their first three games of the season combined.

Michigan State was more physical, grabbing key offensive rebounds and creating second-chance opportunities, and cleaning up on the defensive glass. Michigan State enters this game 3-0 with wins over Colgate, Arkansas and San Jose State. The Spartans have one of the best nonconference wins of any team -- a 69-66 victory over John Calipari's Razorbacks -- and have a chance to add another marquee win against the Wildcats this week.
