New York Gov. Kathy Hochul laid out an ambitious agenda for 2025 during her State of the State address at the Hart Theater in Albany on Tuesday.

A CHICKEN IN EVERY POT, A COP IN EVERY SUBWAY: Gov. Kathy Hochul spent her fourth State of the State championing the cause she continued to emphasize over the last two months. She also unveiled a serious proposal to combat subway crime — placing an NYPD officer on every train throughout the city’s sprawling underground transit system every night.

Gov. Kathy Hochul will take a look back at the past year in New York during her State of the State address Wednesday. Hochul is expected to start the state’s 57th annual address around 1 p.m. in Albany.

ALBANY, New York — Gov. Kathy Hochul wants to cut state income taxes by $1 billion over the next two years — part of an agenda aimed at combating voters’ economic concerns that helped deliver President-elect Donald Trump’s victory. The Democratic governor is also trying to improve her own political standing ahead of her 2026 reelection.

The governor also said the state also will take steps that could lead to the first expansion of nuclear power in decades.

The proposed cuts would apply to roughly three-quarters of New York taxpayers, and credits would go to new parents.
