World champions Australia rely on experience and all-round abilities as they seek third Champions Trophy title.

Sydney: Pat Cummins was on Monday named captain of Australia for next month's Champions Trophy while fellow pacer Josh Hazlewood too was included in the squad despite lingering injury

Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have been named in Australia's squad for the Champions Trophy after been ruled out of the upcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka. Cummins, who will captain the team, is on paternity leave for the birth of his second child,

Cummins, who is currently on paternity leave, will undergo scans to assess the ankle issue he dealt with during the recent Border-Gavaskar series, which Australia won 3-1.

Both Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have been included despite being rested for the tour of Sri Lanka and carrying fitness concerns, with the former also on paternity leave at the moment for the birth of his second child.

Pat Cummins will captain Australia at the Champions Trophy after being named in a preliminary 15-man squad also featuring fellow quick Josh Hazlewood on Tuesday.

Australia have included Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood in their 15-member preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy. Cummins played with an ankle injury during the Test series against India, while Hazlewood is currently nursing a calf injury.

Pat Cummins was reportedly a doubt for Champions Trophy due to an injury issue but he does make a return for the ICC event.

Australia have been drawn in Group B alongside Afghanistan, England and South Africa, and their round robin matches will be played at Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Australia chief selector George Bailey has admitted that he doesn’t have much idea about the availability of Pat Cummins for the upcoming Champions Trophy, especially after undergoing scans on his ankle.
