Four Florida members of congress are expected to visit the new ICE detention facility in the Everglades known as Alligator Alcatraz on Saturday. This comes after allegations of "inhumane" treatment of detainees at the detention center.
If adopted by the county commission Tuesday, an amended agreement with the federal government would authorize county correctional officers to transport immigration detainees at the request of ICE.
ICE received additional funding from President Trump's "big, beautiful bill," and Alligator Alcatraz began operating.
