The fatal 2019 arrest of unarmed Black motorist Ronald Greene and its aftermath demonstrated serious failures at Louisiana State Police like the use of excessive force and breakdowns in accountability,

Five officers involved in Greene's death were initially charged. Two received misdemeanor convictions. None received jail time.

Investigators found insufficient evidence to federally charge the surviving officers in the encounter, in which a Black driver was pulled over, dragged, beaten and shocked.
