In the days after a motorist drove into a crowd at a Filipino festival in Vancouver, killing 11, Toronto's Filipino community has banded together in solidarity and grief, including two people who left the festival just before the incident.

The Philippine consulate warned against donating to unverified fundraisers that may be exploiting the tragedy in Canada.

Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, was charged with eight counts of second-degree murder for killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens after he rammed an SUV through a crowd in the western Canadian city.
