An Air India Boeing 787-8 flight headed for New Delhi returned to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff Monday because of a "technical issue," Indian media reported.

An Air India crash Thursday involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which the aircraft manufacturer first delivered 14 years ago.

Air India has cancelled a Dreamliner flight from Ahmedabad to London after it reportedly suffered from technical issues. Flight AI159 was cancelled on Tuesday morning affecting about 200 passengers.

An Air India Ltd. plane crash that killed 241 of the 242 people on board shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12 was the worst commercial airline disaster since 2014.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) -The head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met the chairman of Air India on Monday in India, two sources said, as the companies seek to find the cause of last week's fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The investigation into Air India flight 171 crash opens up questions into the many concerns surrounding Boeing's 787.

The accident happened just weeks after the company cut a deal with the U.S. government to avoid taking criminal responsibility for a pair of deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019.
