Several ICE agents were seen in Paramount and Downey on Saturday, as the agency's operation in key California hubs picked up steam. This comes as at least 44 people were detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on Friday during a protest.

Sunday's demonstration came as National Guard troops, on orders of President Donald Trump, hit the streets of downtown Los Angeles to help quell protests in recent days over ICE's deportation efforts. Protesters on Saturday east of Los Angeles hurled chunks of cement and rocks at federal agents posted near a Home Depot.

ICE operations are underway in Southern California with a visible presence outside a Home Depot in Paramount, sparking tensions in a predominantly Hispanic community. Federal officials urge the public not to interfere,
